Care Guides for Butt & Hip Pads

Make sure to care for your butt and hip pads properly to ensure a long product life and greater value for your purchase. Foam and silicone pad inserts shouldn't need frequent cleaning as they do not come in contact with our bodies. But Adhesive pads will pick up lint over time, causing the adhesive side to loose their stickiness - a quick cleaning will rid the pads of the lint and regenerate the adhesive.

Key Takeaways

  • Keep all types of pads away from sharp objects and pets (as pets seem to enjoy them as chew toys).

  • Foam inserts should be hand washed. But if you're too busy for that, they can be machine washed in a protective wash bag, gentle cycle, when cleaning is needed.

  • Silicone inserts are low maintenance and just need a quick wipe down with a soft cloth. But it's extremely important to keep silicone away from heat and sharp objects,  and to never put them in the washer/dryer.

  • Adhesive pads must be cleaned when the stickiness wears down to regenerate the adhesive.

Silicone Pads

  • Never put silicone pads in a washing machine or dryer.

  • If silicone pads require cleaning, wipe them with a soft, damp cloth.

  • Keep silicone away from sharp objects and sources of high heat (like open flame or heaters).

  • Avoid contact with adhesive products (like tape or glue) as this will damage the outer membrane of the pad.

Foam Pads

Foam pad inserts do not come on contact with the skin (because they are worn inside a pad pocket). But there may come a time that they need to be cleaned.

  • If pads need cleaning, we recommend the hand washing method to extend the life of the pad.

  • Hand washing method: Submerge pads in a sink/tub of warm water and a couple drops of detergent. Gently squeeze soapy water through. Rinse thoroughly. Lay flat to dry.

  • Alternatively, foam pads can be laundered in a washing machine as follows: Put in a protective wash bag, wash in cold or warm water setting. Remove immediately and lay flat to dry.

Foam pads should be hand washed, but here's a little buttpads.com secret...they can actually be washed in the washing machine but only in a protective lingerie wash bag, in cool/cold water on gentle cycle.

Adhesive Pads

  • Clean when pads when get dirty and/or lose their stickiness. To clean, run warm water over the pads, then gently rub a drop of liquid soap with fingers over sticky side of pad to loosen any lint or dirt. Rinse. Repeat with other pad. Air dry, sticky side up. When dry, re-cover with plastic film for storage.

  • Keep away from sharp objects and sources of heat.

  • Do not apply additional adhesives like double-sided tape or fabric adhesive sprays to the pads. Such adhesives will damage, deteriorate and ruin the outer protective TPU skin of the pad.
